Spring Book Fair -April 11-15th

We hope you will come by and purchase a few of your favorite books during our Spring Book Fair this week!  We will run our book fair Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Noodles and Nonsense another Big Success!!!

Over 800 Parents, Students, and Visitors enjoyed a pasta dinner and 10 hilarious skits from our staff on Thursday night!  It was our first event in our outdoor area and things went pretty well.  We appreciate all of the hard work from our staff and our PTA to make everything a success and would particularly like to thank Pronto Pasta for their generous donation of food, staff, and time.

Adriana Pardo has just been named one of 20 semi-finalists for the WCPSS Diane Kent-Parker Beginning Teacher of the Year Award!  Congratulations Adriana!

Our very own 3rd grade teacher, Amy Scheffel is one of 24 teachers selected as a semi-finalist for WCPSS Teacher of the Year!  We are very proud of her!

Congratulations to Adriana Pardo, our Diane Kent Parker Beginning Teacher of the Year.  Ms. Pardo brings creativity and passion for teaching and learning to her 4th grade classroom and is a tremendous community builder in her classroom.

It's Official!!! A 3-peat for JYJ

3 PEAT!!!

We have received official notification from the Magnet Schools of America, and, for the 3rd Consecutive Year, J.Y. Joyner for Spanish Language/IB Magnet Elementary is a National Magnet School of Excellence.  This is the highest award level bestowed upon a school and less than 60 schools per year achieve this prestigious honor.  We are very proud of our teachers, staff, students, and parents!!!

Another Great Science Go Round!!!

Thanks to all who helped make this years Science Go Round a Great time for everyone!!!  If we can gauge it's success by the number of parents who have been asked to buy a pet chicken or install solar panels, it was a huge success.  I am hoping to have pictures in the future.

Science Go Round

Our Annual Science Go Round will be held on Friday, Feb. 18th.  We will have presenters from all over the state, including Dan The Animal Man.

Magnet Open House

We will be hosting Magnet Open House on Wednesday, Feb. 9th at 10:00 am and 12:30 pm.
