JYJ Teachers On The Ground in Haiti!!

Our JYJ Haiti Team is on the ground and have had their first meal in Haiti (Peanut Butter and Jelly and Coca Cola.)

As we get more information and pictures we will post them for all to see.

Getting Ready for 2011-2012!!!

Our Head Custodian, Mr. Bizzell, has been working hard to get our 4th and 5th grade teachers moved into the main building and to get our Spanish Teachers moved into the modular building.

We are converting our Computer Lab to a classroom and will set up a portable computer lab that we will set up each day in the WJYJ newsroom after the news.  

We are tentatively planning on having a classroom in First Grade and a classroom in Second Grade that will be team taught with two teachers working with a class of students.  

JYJ Haiti Team Leaves for Haiti Next Week!

Help Heal Haiti

A team of very dedicated teachers will be traveling to Haiti the week of June 24th to bring healing, food, clean water, and lots of love to children in orphanages throughout the countryside of Haiti.  As you can imagine, we are very proud of our Haiti Team because they represent the best of what we are at Joyner!

Congratulations to our very own Katie McMahon, who was named Principal at Wiley Elementary last night!  We will miss her very much!!!

Faculty vs. 5th grade kickball

Everyone had a great time at the Teachers vs. Students Kickball Game on Tuesday!  The Teachers beat the 5th graders 36-13, but they could barely walk on Wednesday!

Great Day for JYJ PTA!!!

The JYJ PTA captured 4 Major Awards (2 in the area of membership, 1 for the Healthy Choice Marathon, and 1 for School/Family Involvement) at the State PTA Awards Luncheon in Fayetteville, NC on Saturday, May 14th.

The Depo Family along with Mr. Knott represented our school at the luncheon.

What Can We Afford to Cut???

That's a question that's being asked all over the State of North Carolina in these tight budget times.  Who can we afford to lay off.  Who can we afford to lose?

If you have been to the adult bathrooms at our school, you have probably read a poster that is on every door.  It states simply, Somebody Needs You "On your Worst Day, You are Still Some Childs' Best Hope."  This is something we truly believe and that we llive. 

With this said, I think the answer is simple; We can't afford to lose a single person because we are all some childs' best hope.

Latin American Culture Celebration

What a Tremendous Display of Artistic Talent!!!  Our Spanish Team and Our Students did an amazing job with this years' Latin American Culture Celebration!  We are really proud of your efforts!!!

Welcome Ms. Jami Tobias to JYJ

Please welcome Ms. Jami Tobias to JYJ!  Jami is coming to us as a teacher transfer from Brentwood Elementary where she teaches 1st grade.  She will be a K-3 teacher next year at Joyner (We're not sure which grade at this time.)  Jami has been teaching for 5 years and was recognized in 2007 as the Cary Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year.  Ms. Tobias uses technology to support instruction in her classroom and is known for developing lessons that are challenging and engaging.  Welcome to JYJ!!!
