Below is a picture of my mother as a schoolgirl. She was mixed race Cherokee Indian and Irish.  She died when I was nine, but I remember her as the most beautiful woman I ever saw.

Noodles and Nonsense

Over 600 plates of pasta were served Thursday night and there was plenty of Nonsense from teachers and staff. It was a really good time and we are glad so many of you could make it!

Joyner OM Teams make strong showings at NC State Finals

The JYJ OM Teams made strong showings at the NC OM tournament at Wingate University last weekend.

The Ooh Motional Vehicle Team placed 5th overall and the Odyssey Angels Team place 11th.

Congratulations to our teams and their coaches on another successful season!!!

Bubba Wins in a playoff at The Masters

My Grandma Watson's favorite golfer and namesake, Bubba Watson, hit a 155 rope hook out of the pine straw in the second hole of a playoff to win the 2012 Masters.  The Knott household was pulling for Webb Simpson, but it was like divine intervention when Grandma Watson's favorite pulled it out in the playoff.

Masters Week is Coming!!!

April 2nd -8th is one of my favorite times of the year; Masters Week at Augusta National!  There is nothing like a day at the Masters and if you think there's any doubt you might not go to heaven, invest in a ticket and get as close as you possibly can on earth!

OM Teams Prepare for State Championship

Two regional championJoyner OM teams are preparing for the State Championship Saturday at Wingate University. Top teams at Wingate move on to the World Champonship at Iowa State University. Joyner captured the World Championship in 2001, finished third in 2003, and 6th in 2009.

Culture Eats Structure For Lunch

What Does It Mean???  It means that an organizations culture, and the people who make it up, are much more important to the success of the organization than the structure of the organization's work.  Over the past seven years, our school has been recognized locally for our Spanish language program,  nationally as one of the country's best magnet schools, and internationally as a leader in global outreach with projects in Belize and Haiti   What makes all of this possible?  An Amazing group of Faculty, Parents, and Students dedicated to making our world a better place!  From the Amazing Teachers that we recruit and retain, to the dedicated parents of our PTA, to the creative, caring, and intelligent students we hope to develop, we have developed a tremendous family culture.  We Are a Family!

Joyner Staff Members Sew Dresses for Haiti

A group of JYJ staff members got together Saturday to sew pillowcase dresses for girls in Haiti. This is in support of and addition to our staff trip to Haiti in the summer.

JYJ 5K A Huge Success

The first ever JYJ 5K was heavily attended with over 500 runners. All together our PTA raised over $20,000 to support our school and our families had a great time.
