Joyner 3rd Graders Helping Refugees from Central African Republic

The family pictured above were guests of Ms. Scheffel and our third graders Monday. They are Refugees from the war in the Central African Republic. They fled to Chad after their villages were burned and soon came to the United States with the help of Lutheran Ministries. They live in Ms. Scheffel's apartment complex.

Our third graders have been studying communities and discussing what happens when things go wrong in a community. Our guests communicated through an interpreter and told the students of their time in the refugee camps and their trip to America.
